This series of photos shows the construction of Castle Class No 4000 'North Star'.

This engine was unique in the class in having a footplate 2 1/2" higher than standard.

The footplate on the model was modified to represent this difference and you can see

the inserted nickel strip on the front footplate views.

Note the 'spacer' inserted at the top of the front footplate to

raise the main footplate by a scale 2 1/2".
